Digipak Template

This is the template I will be using for my ancillary text for my album cover. I will now be able to plan my images around the digipak and will be able to plan my images which will be suitable for my genre, song and artist.

Ideas For My Ancillary Text: Font

For my font on my album cover and magazine advertisement I want it to have a vintage look and feel. I want it to show that it was a different to other albums that may use a stronger and bolder text. I think these fonts above follow my theme of indie folk and vintage vibe. Orange juice, La Truite A Papa, Travelling Type writer and Beamcatcher are my favourite fonts.

What equipment I used

The camera I used:

Samsung WB1100F Digital Smart Camera is the camera that I used. I used this camera as I already owned it. So it felt sensible to use my camera because of the quality it offers and it would be more practical. This way it meant I could film when I wanted and wouldn't have to struggle with not having a camera available when I want to and need to film. It helped also in the fact that I had worked with this camera before in my media coursework last year and in filming another video for my film studies coursework. So I have had experience with this camera and know the ins and outs of it.

Prop List

PROPS:

LOCATION ONE:

  • Cup (For the shot we see my actress drink her cup of Tea)
  • Piece of paper- that is the letter that Jess' mum leaves her

Neither cost anything because the cup was already at Jess' home and the piece of paper was in a note book at Jess' house.

Location Shots

In order of appearance:

Location one: Hallway
I've used this because I'd figure following the actress would be a good idea to what we believe would be a normal day, and its different from a start of the day of seeing the stereotypical waking up from the bed.
Location two: Kitchen

My Actress Chosen Costume

Outfit One:

For the costume that's in doors I've chosen for her to were black skinny jeans, a black vest top and a checkered skirt that's slightly bigger than what my actress needs, This adds to the vintage feel that the indie genre represents.
My actress make up And hair:

For hair I've chosen to a natural hair vibe, I did this by damping the bottom end of hair and plated it and it created a slight curl. For make up I followed a natural look. By using light browns on the eyes, a slight top line of eye-liner and mascara. I used concealer to hide any spots my actress may have and for her face to look cleaner and fresh.

Ancillary Texts One: Album Cover Conventions

The conventions of Indie Folk Album Cover:

Here are some examples of indie folk album covers, I've used Birdy whose the artist of my chosen song so I can compare my ideas to it and how I can make or it similar or different to it. I've used the band Mumford & Sons to compare it to band on conventions and another male band, because of there differences in choice of album covers.

Film Diary

Filming Day one: Wednesday 26th November 2014

This filming session was for me to film the first and last shots that are excluded to the house scenes, so that I would have more time to focus on the beach scenes. I managed to require some good ending shots and practise shots for the first sequence of the music video. However, I struggled filming around the skin and the lighting was to dark so I struggled to get good lighting on my video and thats why I think I will have to film this sequence again. However, my actress was very patient and showed good performance skills and that added to the realism.

Filming Day Two: Saturday 6th December 2014

This filming session was a re-shoot of the first sequence as I wanted the first scene to be lighter because I had to film the whole house scenes at once because it made sense then to film on different days. However, my struggle was that they're at two different times of the day so the lighting had to be at different points. I felt that the shoot went excellent compared to last time, and I got a lot more shots this time with clearer image.  However, my initial plan was to film the beach scenes between Peter and Jess but that was not possible due to complications with Jess working when Pete was available and no other mutual free time. A  factor I used differently to last time would be how I brought in my camera and tripod because I thought it would be easier and have clearer footage. I used more hand held shots then last time so meaning there will be more of a variety of shots instead of tripod held shots which may become disinteresting to the audience.

Filming Day Three:Saturday 6th February 2015

This filming session I filmed most of the outdoor scenes which are located at the beach minus the bus scene and my main character Jess walk 'home'. I filmed for several hours during the day and had lots of footage which was good. However, a problem  I faced in the filming process
