MORAL PANIC
1. What is moral panic?
- The intensity of feeling expressed is population about an issue that appears to threaten social order- maybe a group of people
2. What is the folk devil?
- Where the media shows certain groups in media, who the media are blaming the event of the moral panic for e.g London Riots.
3. Why do we have moral panics?
- Because of how they've portrayed with disaster as tabloids said social riots would spread.
4. To what extent did the mods and Rockers create an ideology for future/contemporary representations of youth?
- In my opinion it has had a large impact in where the older generation view the youth, as they are weary of the youth because of events like the events that happened in the 1960s. However, there is more than the two ideologies now which means there is different representations from the youth which has not helped with any positives connotations the youth may deserve,
The real 'Quadrophenia'
Mods v Rockers- Contemporary, Documentary , BBC.
Mods N rockers rebooted.
Here are some of the notes I took from the documentary:
- Confirmatory, diversity, poverty
- Teddy boy gangs- Freedom and money
- Tonner boys opposite to Teddy
- Teenagers took risks on roads
- 'Youth species'
- They used to call themselves the modernism.
- And they created a new ideology that they have never seen before, teenage can buy their own things, more money then before.
- The older generation looked on with suspicion
- There indictfaction is with different types of music: Mods was urban
- However they were more Mods then Rockers
- 97 youth were arrested -banned on both parts
- Economic and social changed' is ideology of UK
- 'Police ready for a wild one'
- 'A war of gangs'
- The ideology has progressed form mods:
- The appeal of mod is universal
- The number of youth is considerably smaller
- There actions have had the exact opposite affect.
